Barnbougle Castle – A Hidden Gem on the Outskirts of Edinburgh
The Cragganmore Ceilidh Band are delighted to have their Two Fiddle Duo perform at this fantastic wedding venue, later this year. The stunning, 13th century, Barnbougle Castle is a relatively new events venue that opened to the public for the first time in 2019. The castle sits on the shores of the Firth of Forth amidst the wooded parklands of the Dalmeny Estate, with outstanding views over the Firth of Forth and its three iconic bridges.
The wedding venue, set in South Queensferry, is secluded yet easily accessible for guests from across the country and further afield. Located just 7 miles from Edinburgh with its excellent rail and air links, Barnbougle Castle is 20 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and 30 minutes from Edinburgh’s main train station, Edinburgh Waverley. It takes approximately an hour to drive from Glasgow, just over an hour from Dundee, and only a short drive of 20 minutes from Fife.
The castle itself provides a wonderful setting for weddings and other special occasions. There are a number of exceptional event spaces of all sizes, including the Scottish Library with its extensive book collection and easy access onto waterside terraces with wonderful sea views and access to private beaches, ideal for a more intimate event. The terrace is an ideal location for guests to enjoy a drinks reception entertained by the Cragganmore Ceilidh Band Fiddle Duo, weather permitting of course! The Fiddle Duo will also perform during the wedding ceremony, at a nearby church. During the ceremony, the Duo will provide an elegant backdrop, performing a range of traditional Scottish songs, whereas the music during the drinks reception will be lively and upbeat!
There is also the superb sixty-foot Barrel-vaulted Banqueting Hall with Minstrels Gallery. This hall can cater for up to 140 guests dining. Marquees on the castle lawn can cater for large-scale events of up to 450 guests, with dance floors these are ideal for a traditional Scottish ceilidh.
