The Boathouse at Dougarie – A Wedding Venue on the Isle of Arran
Cragganmore Ceilidh Band are delighted to be a recommended supplier for The Boathouse at Dougarie, a fantastic new wedding venue on the West Coast of the Isle of Arran, Scotland. The venue has recently started taking bookings, and we cannot wait to be on Arran, entertaining wedding guests in the near future.
The Boathouse is a unique property, situated on the stunning shores of Machrie Beach. Surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery over the Kilbrannan Sound, the venue provides wonderful views over the sea towards the Mull of Kintyre. Historically the boathouse was a sporting lodge belonging to the Dougarie Estate owned by the 11th Duke of Hamilton from 1850. The venue is now owned and operated by local islanders, having been completely renovated to a very high standard.
Weddings can take place anywhere within the Dougrie Estate grounds, including on the beach in front of The Boathouse, by the beautiful Loch Lorsa, or in the Boathouse itself, where up to 80 guests can be accommodated. The marquee, which sits adjacent to the boathouse can cater for up to 200 guests.
Clients can also hire accommodation in properties located on Dougarie Estate including the House of Machrie and The Towers. Thirty-five people can be accommodated across 5 houses if desired.
The Boathouse can host the wedding ceremony, however, if you prefer a church ceremony, there are a selection of picturesque churches located across Arran.
The journey to The Boathouse from Glasgow takes between 2 and 3 hours.
Several members of the Cragganmore Ceilidh Band have very happy memories of regular holidays on the Isle of Arran often known as ‘Scotland in Miniature’ and look forward to returning to the beautiful island.
